A seasonal, springtime blue cheese inspired by European blue cheese recipes and the legacies of our grandmothers. Flora Nelle’s natural rind and traditional rennet produce beautiful and distinctive blue marbling with a layered, spicy, and savory flavor experience.

First introduced in 2011, Flora Nelle left the marketplace in 2017 to allow Rogue Creamery to develop new recipes. Now Flora Nelle is back for 2022 as a seasonal cheese, exclusively available at RogueCreamery.com this spring!

Ingredients: USDA Certified Organic Pasteurized Cow Milk, Salt, Enzymes, Cheese Cultures, Penicillium Roqueforti

Note: Unlike all of Rogue Creamery’s other cheeses, Flora Nelle is not a vegetarian product.

Appearance: Ivory paste with distinctive and intricate green-blue marbling throughout

Texture: Thick, creamy, and fudgy with slight granularity

Taste: white pepper and spicy “blue” flavor, with hints of honey, wildflowers, and savory cured meat

Suggested Pairings:

  • A beautiful addition to a spring cheese board, Flora Nelle Blue draws the eye with its distinctive appearance. Also delicious when sliced or crumbled over salad or roasted vegetables.
  • Pairs best with wines that exhibit low to moderate sweetness, such as Sauternes, sweet Riesling, and PX Sherry.

    We hereby proclaim Saturday afternoons after shopping at our local farmer’s market, as “Flora Nelle Blue Time”! We add some plain crackers, a little of the Porcini Sage Salami, and a small glass of champagne. Pure delight! The taste of sweet wildflowers, green grass, the fragrance of savory sage, are pure pleasure. Please offer it at least every spring. WE LOVE ALL of your blues! We can also hear the happy cows in the background.
