BIG NEWS: Smokey Blue has recently been awarded a 2023 Good Food Award by the Good Food Foundation!!!

Playfully inspired by Smokey Bear, this American original is cold-smoked for many hours over Oregon hazelnut shells. This process infuses the cheese with unique aromas of barrel-aged vanilla, bread pudding, and candied bacon. You’ll taste spicy-sweet flavors of honey, apple, and nectarine, plus a mild “blue” finish.

Appearance: Pale, buttery paste with blue veining

Texture: Creamy, buttery, and crumbly, with mild tannins

Taste: Vanilla, bread pudding, roasted nuts, and nectarine, with mild “blue” flavor

Suggested Pairings:

  • Elevates even the simplest of foods, such as burgers and deviled eggs. A unique addition to any cheese board, where it is best served with nut brittle or preserved fruits.
  • Stands up well to bigger red wines, including Cabernet Franc and Zinfandel, as well as white wines exhibiting a hint of sweetness.  A favorite pairing with American Whiskey.

Everyone I’ve served this to has subsequently bought some for themselves, For the very best b.c. stuffed olives in the world, buy an extra wedge and extra olives, for both will disappear!

  2. Teresa

Delightful! We received this cheese as part of a monthly subscription box from a local cheese shop, and loved it. The complexity of flavor is amazing.

  3. Andrea

Exquisite!. In a class of its own. A strong smokey blue with lovely pungent streaks of mold throughout. I ate little slivers and let them melt in my mouth. Great with Martinelli’s Sparkling Cider and Green Grapes

I also didn’t like blue cheese but this was amazing. I melted it on top of a steak but couldn’t stop eating pieces of it the entire time I was cooking!

I just tried the Smokey Blue Cheese and it is absolutely delicious! (I do not like blue cheese) I received a gift of this Smokey Blue, otherwise I would never have tried it. A review under the Touvelle Cheese mentioned her recipe which included Smokey Blue for a grilled cheese and that recipe turned out wonderful. This Smokey Blue is out of this world good!!
